A Gathering of Giants | ARPA’s Keynote Speech at T-EDGE X Global Blockchain Summit

On July 17, TMTPost and ChainDD co-hosted the “T-EDGE X One World in Tech Global Blockchain Summit” with 6mai Tech and BSN Alliance.

Industry giants such as China Mobile, UnionPay, Zhongchao Credit Card Group, Ant Financial, QCloud, Baidu, Hundsun Tech, JD Digits, WeBank, and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) all attended and discussed the application paradigm and prospect of blockchain together.

Professionals from blockchain industry had heated discussions on blockchain, smart cities, industrial empowerment, sample analysis, technology evolution, and blockchain commercialization ideas.

The summit started on June 29th and lasts for one month. During these thirty days, more than twenty live-streaming platforms will broadcast the summit across the world, with over 5 million viewers online at the same time; a number of themed conferences and five cutting-edge forums will be held around the clock.

Felix delivered a keynote speech on “Privacy-Preserving Computation — The New Platform for Digital Banking” and had a roundtable discussion with Shao Bing, head of blockchain products department at QCloud, and Sun Haitao, head of blockchain department at Hundsun Tech.

During the roundtable, they shared their views on how blockchain can promote financial product innovation and upgrade its efficiency.

He mentioned that the biggest driving force for the development of privacy-preserving computation is regulation. The biggest reason why people are paying more and more attention to personal privacy protection is due to increasingly strict nation wide data protection act and other privacy-related legislations.

Felix thinks that the entire privacy-preserving computation industry is still in its early stage, and it is easier to cut-in from the financial field, because its data value is relatively high. At the same time, the digitalization and data structuring degree of this field is comparatively deep. He believes that in the next five or ten years privacy-preserving computation will develop tremendously.

Felix thinks that the ultimate goal of privacy-preserving computation is to protect everyone’s data and their data right & data ownership. In the end, the value of these data can be returned to users, or give back to those enterprises. We can one day realize the ambitious goal of turning data into an asset class.
