ARPA Joins the World’s First MPC Alliance as its Latest Member
Dear community and ARPA supporters,
We are thrilled to announce that ARPA has been accepted as the latest member at the MPC Alliance, the world’s first international organization for secure multi-party computing technology, to work with industry pioneers to promote the implementation and standardization of secure multi-party computing (MPC) technology worldwide.
MPC Alliance is an alliance of global corporations and enterprises that dedicate their resources to MPC research and accelerating the industry adoption and implementation of MPC technology.
Members of the MPC Alliance include Alibaba Group, ARPA, Bytom, ZenGo, Unbound, Enigma, NuCypher, PlatON, among others. It is worth mentioning that the founders of MPC Alliance member companies include Professor Yehuda Lindell, Professor Nigel Smart, Professor Ivan Damgård and other founding fathers the of modern secure multi-party computation.
As the world’s first secure multi-party computing enterprise alliance, the MPC Alliance is dedicated to enhancing the exchange of both the technology and business sides among its members, and attracting multi-national enterprises and research institutions interested in privacy-preserving computation.
As a formal corporate member, ARPA attended the affiliate membership kick-off meeting on January 14, 2020 and will participate in the first technical meeting next week.
The membership in the MPC Alliance is significant recognition for the technological advancement that ARPA has made in the MPC research, and the effort ARPA has made in the industrial adoption of MPC technology.
As a pioneer in Multi-party computation, ARPA successfully participated in the formulation of the first and only secure multi-party computation national industry standard in China, led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with Alibaba, and Baidu and Ant Financial
In addition, ARPA is participating in several IEEE international standard working groups, and has actively contributed to technical standardization work in the areas of shared machine learning, secure multi-party computation, and many others. In 2019, ARPA was named as one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Enterprise in China.
ARPA will continue to join hands with the alliance members and any other enterprises that are interested in privacy-preserving computation to bring data privacy to blockchain and the data industry.

WHAT IS MPC ALL ABOUT?
Multiparty Computation (or MPC) allows a set of parties to jointly compute a function over their inputs while keeping them private. Think of it as distributed cloud computing, but much more secure and private. MPC is a disruptive technology showing great promise in multiple industries. Use cases include credit anti-fraud, precision marketing,
WHAT IS THE MPC ALLIANCE ALL ABOUT?
MPC Alliance is a group of industry pioneers with strong roots in academia. Its mission is to accelerate adoption of MPC technology. The MPC Alliance will help with cross-industry education and exploration of the unlimited possibilities and use cases enabled by MPC.
ARPA is committed to providing secure data transfer solutions based on cryptographic operations for businesses and individuals.
The ARPA secure multi-party computing network can be used as a protocol layer to implement privacy computing capabilities for public chains, and it enables developers to build efficient, secure, and data-protected business applications on private smart contracts. Enterprise and personal data can, therefore, be analyzed securely on the ARPA computing network without fear of exposing the data to any third party.
ARPA’s multi-party computing technology supports secure data markets, precision marketing, credit score calculations, and even the safe realization of personal data.
ARPA’s core team is international, with PhDs in cryptography from Tsinghua University, experienced systems engineers from Google, Uber, Amazon, Huawei and Mitsubishi, blockchain experts from the University of Tokyo, AIG, and the World Bank. We also have hired data scientists from CircleUp, as well as financial and data professionals from Fosun and Fidelity Investments.
