ARPA Randcast to Launch on SOON Mainnet, Bringing Verifiable Randomness to Ethereum’s Most Efficient Layer 2

3 min readApr 4, 2025

ARPA Network is excited to announce a strategic partnership with SOON, a high-performance general-purpose Layer 2 built on Ethereum. Powered by a Decoupled Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) execution layer, SOON combines the best of Ethereum’s security with Solana’s parallelized speed and scalability. Designed with modularity and efficiency in mind, SOON is redefining the Layer 2 landscape by offering developers a rollup stack that’s optimized for performance, flexibility, and interoperability.

As part of this collaboration, ARPA’s Randcast, a decentralized and verifiable Random Number Generator (RNG), will be integrated into the SOON ecosystem. This will provide provably fair and transparent randomness across a wide range of use cases — from gaming and NFTs to on-chain raffles, AI-generated content, and more. Randcast brings cryptographically secure randomness that is verifiable on-chain, enabling developers to build applications that users can trust.

The integration of Randcast is set to be a significant milestone for SOON as it expands its ecosystem tooling. By incorporating verifiable randomness, SOON will empower developers to eliminate centralized RNG dependencies, ensuring greater integrity in app logic, prize distributions, and any mechanism that relies on chance.

ARPA’s planned deployment of Randcast on SOON Mainnet also highlights the growing demand for modular, performant L2s. Together, SOON and ARPA are enabling a new generation of builders to launch faster, more secure applications on Ethereum’s most efficient rollup stack.

Stay tuned as we roll out further integration details and resources for developers looking to build with Randcast on SOON.

About SOON

SOON is the first true SVM rollup. SOON’s vision is to realize the Super Adoption Stack (SAS), a framework for driving mass blockchain adoption. SAS is composed of three core products: SOON Mainnet, SOON Stack, and InterSOON. These components work together to provide high-performance, interoperable, and scalable solutions. At the heart of SOON are three core technical innovations: Decoupled SVM, Merklization, and Horizontal Scaling, which collectively enable enhanced performance, efficiency, and scalability across the blockchain ecosystem.

SOON is aligned with Anza, the spin-off development studio from Solana Labs. The SVM Specs in Anza’s Agave repo serves as the implementation reference for SOON. The team has extensive experience in crypto and is able to execute. Co-founder and CEO Joanna Zeng has been in Crypto since 2017 and led BD & Partnerships at Coinbase, Optimism, and Aleo.

SOON is backed by the most well respected angel investors in the space including Toly, Anatoly “Toly” Yakovenko, Co-Founder of Solana Labs; Lily Liu, President of Solana Foundation & Founder of Anagram Ventures; Jonathan King, Principal at Coinbase Ventures; Mustafa Al-Bassam, Co-Founder of Celestia Labs; Amrit Kumar, Co-Founder of AltLayer; Prabal Banerjee, Co-Founder of Avail, and other prominent builders.

About ARPA

ARPA Network (ARPA) is a decentralized, secure computation network built to improve the fairness, security, and privacy of blockchains. The ARPA threshold BLS signature network serves as the infrastructure for a verifiable Random Number Generator (RNG), secure wallet, cross-chain bridge, and decentralized custody across multiple blockchains.

ARPA was previously known as ARPA Chain, a privacy-preserving Multi-party Computation (MPC) network founded in 2018. ARPA Mainnet has completed over 224,000 computation tasks in the past years. Our experience in MPC and other cryptography laid the foundation for our innovative threshold BLS signature schemes (TSS-BLS) system design and led us to today’s ARPA Network.

Randcast, a verifiable Random Number Generator (RNG), is the first application that leverages ARPA as infrastructure. Randcast offers a cryptographically generated random source with superior security and low cost compared to other solutions. Metaverse, game, lottery, NFT minting and whitelisting, key generation, and blockchain validator task distribution can benefit from Randcast’s tamper-proof randomness.
