ARPA Restaking Season 4 Launches with EigenLayer Rewards v2 Upgrade

3 min readApr 2, 2025

Following the successful completion of ARPA AVS Restaking Reward Season 3, we’re proud to carry the momentum forward with the launch of Season 4, beginning April 3, 2025, at 00:00 UTC.

Season 3 demonstrated strong community participation and helped ARPA solidify its position as one of the most active Autonomous Verifiable Services (AVS) in the EigenLayer ecosystem. With 70,000 ARPA distributed over 70 days, the program reinforced our commitment to rewarding restakers for their contributions to network security and decentralization.

Now, in Season 4, we’re building on that foundation with a major protocol upgrade: integration with EigenLayer’s Rewards v2. This upgrade brings greater flexibility and operational efficiency to our incentive model, enabling dynamic, token-agnostic reward distribution and new operator performance tracking mechanisms.

Season 4 Overview

  • Start Date: April 3, 2025, at 00:00 UTC
  • Duration: 70 days
  • Total Reward Pool: 70,000 ARPA

Reward Distribution

  • 50% (35,000 ARPA) allocated to ARPA restakers
  • 35% (24,500 ARPA) allocated to ETH and Liquid Staking Token (LST) restakers (Excluding uniBTC, solvBTC, and slisBNB)
  • 15% (10,500 ARPA) allocated to EIGEN restakers

This distribution framework continues our goal of rewarding diverse contributions across the staking ecosystem while maintaining consistency with previous reward models.

Integration with EigenLayer Rewards v2

Season 4 introduces a key technical upgrade: integration with EigenLayer’s Rewards v2 system, which introduces new capabilities including:

  • Token-agnostic reward delivery: Rewards can be sent to any activated node using any token
  • Custom reward durations: Rewards can be set for any defined period, with a minimum of one day
  • Batch reward claiming: Participants can claim multiple rewards in a single transaction to reduce gas costs

These enhancements are designed to improve operational efficiency and support more dynamic reward logic across restaking programs.

Note for node operators: If you’re using the Eigen Sidecar to monitor rewards data, please ensure it’s updated to version 2.0.0 for full compatibility with Rewards v2.

Operator Incentives Based on Randcast Activity

In Season 4, operator rewards will be determined based on their Randcast-related activity, specifically the volume of tasks completed. This activity will be tracked monthly, with rewards distributed quarterly based on cumulative performance. During the initial three-month trial period, these rewards will continue to be distributed from the Randcast contract. Following this phase, distribution will transition to the Rewards v2 mechanism. This performance-based model is designed to better align operator incentives with meaningful on-chain participation and service delivery.

Looking Ahead

Season 4 represents a major step forward in the evolution of ARPA’s staking incentive program. By adopting EigenLayer’s Rewards v2, we’re advancing toward a more modular, efficient, and performance-aligned restaking framework.

Thank you to our community, node operators, and partners for your ongoing support. We look forward to another successful season and will continue to share updates as we track the progress of Season 4 and the broader evolution of the ARPA Network.

About ARPA

ARPA Network (ARPA) is a decentralized secure computation network built to improve the fairness, security, and privacy of blockchains. ARPA threshold BLS signature network serves as the infrastructure of verifiable Random Number Generator (RNG), secure wallet, cross-chain bridge, and decentralized custody across multiple blockchains.

ARPA was previously known as ARPA Chain, a privacy-preserving Multi-party Computation (MPC) network founded in 2018. ARPA Mainnet has completed over 224,000 computation tasks in the past years. Our experience in MPC and other cryptography laid the foundation for our innovative threshold BLS signature schemes (TSS-BLS) system design and led us to today’s ARPA Network.

Randcast, a verifiable Random Number Generator (RNG), is the first application that leverages ARPA as infrastructure. Randcast offers a cryptographically generated random source with superior security and low cost compared to other solutions. Metaverse, game, lottery, NFT minting and whitelisting, key generation, and blockchain validator task distribution can benefit from Randcast’s tamper-proof randomness.
